Searches

All fields are optional and can be used in any combination. The more specific the search, the fewer the results.

Titles

The title search uses simple pattern matching and is not case-sensitive. Wildcards (*, &, etc.) and "and/or" are not supported. To retrieve the equivalent of "Ameri*", type "Ameri" (no quotes). To retrieve all maps with the letter R (uppercase or lowercase) in their title, type R.

Geographic locations

Choosing a broader location will retrieve only maps whose extent is roughly similar to that broad location; it will not retrieve more specific maps. For example, choosing Africa will retrieve only maps specifically of all of Africa - not maps of more specific areas within Africa.

Geographic locations are authorized terms from the Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names.
