| Artist Bio | Baochen Chen, born in Fujian, China, was a central political figure in the late Qing dynasty. When he served as vice president of the Board of Rites, one of his works is to promote a western-style training in the Qing military. After the establishment of the Republic of China in 1912, he remains loyal to Qing dynasty and served as a tai-fu (a grand tutor) of the last emperor, Puyi. After Puyi was finally expelled from the Forbidden City, Chen still stays with him and became one of the supporters of restoring Qing dynasty. Chen died in 1935 and was given a posthumous name, “Wenzhong” to honor his loyalty. |
| 作者生平 | 陳寶琛字伯潛,號弢庵、陶庵。福建人。同治七年(1868年)進士,曾授翰林院侍講學士、禮部侍郎等職位,主張參用西法訓練軍務。宣統三年(1911年),陳寶琛任溥儀老師,封太傅,曾為溥儀復辟奔波。民國十四年(1925年),隨溥儀移居天津,於民國三十四年(1935年)病逝於天津,諡文忠。 |
