| Artist Bio | Wentian Li, known as Zhongyue (courtesy name) or Ruonong (pseudonym), was born in Guangdong, China. He became an imperial scholar in 1859 and was appointed as the vice director of Board of Rites. Li was a renowned scholar specializing in history and geography of Yuan dynasty (1206-1370). To help readers gain better understanding of Yuan dynasty, he wrote the notes to the book, “The Secret History of the Mongols”. Li was also a well-known calligrapher who excelled in seal, clerical, and running-regular script and had deep knowledge of origins of different models or copybooks of calligraphy. |

| Main Text | Thousands of mountains are covered by layers of forest canopies. Tens of thousands of valleys are crossed by crystal-clear rivers. Three qings (Chinese ancient units of area) of lands serve as farmland in the spring. Five sections are used as gardens in the fall. |
