| Artist Bio | Li Chen, known as Lanfu (courtesy name), was a renowned scholar in the late Qing dynasty. Chen showed his talent in several fields in his early age. He was a certified student and first-degree scholar (a successful candidate of provincial examinations) in his early twenties. Recognized as a very productive scholar, Chen published several books covering astronomy, phonology, textology, geography, temperament, and arithmetic. |

| Main Text | Lingyun Xie (a renowned poet in the Southern dynasty) was inspired by his thinking of families and wrote down such a good sentence “In pond grows spring grass” in his poem. Fu Du (a renowned poet in the Tang dynasty) was inspired by his motivation of discussing poems with his friend Bai Li (a renowned poet in the Tang dynasty) and wrote down a master work of “spring trees and evening clouds.” |
