Description	An award-winning photojournalist for 39 years, Clayborn Benson was instrumental in significantly breaking barriers for African Americans in photojournalism. Throughout his career, Benson covered many prominent stories in the Milwaukee area. Retired from photo-journalism, Benson now devotes his time solely to the Wisconsin Black Historical Society Museum, which he founded in 1987. His love of history blossomed during his student years, leading to his decision to open the museum in Milwaukee. The museum serves the community by highlighting Wisconsin's African American heritage and history. Benson also continues to stay connected to UWM with internships at his museum for students and ongoing involvement in university events.
