October 24, 1937. Ten miles east of Colonia, Uruguay: Looking eastward along the road to Montevideo. The gentle rolling nature of this region can be seen by noting the dips in the concrete highway. The country is farmed chiefly in cattle ranching and presents a fine green appearance. Some wheat. (Only about 5 per cent of the total area of Uruguay is under cultivation.) 2000 feet.
