Photographer's Note	November 3, 1937. Groot Drakenstein. C.P.: Looking east southeast toward Fransch Hoek, which lies at the end of the valley. Fransch Hoek Pass is just beyond. The Wemmershoek Mountains (Drakenstein) are at the left. This picture serves to orient the more detailed views of the Pickstone ranch, which lies in the foreground. The large square patch of woodland is part of the holding. Flowing past this forest is the Great Berg River that runs northward (to left) to St. Helena Bay. The main portion of the Pickstone citrus farm lies between the river and the railroad. The canning factory is seen on the railroad just at the bottom of the picture, and at this point a motor road goes to the right toward Stellenbosch. 9700 feet. 08:15.
