November 25, 1937. Vaalbank Dam: Twenty miles southeast of Vereeniging. This dam is still under construction, but one can see that some storage has taken place as indicated by the submerged trees in the line of the old river bank. In the background is the junction of the Vaal and the Wilge rivers. There are no irrigation canals taken directly from this dam as it constitutes merely a storage reservoir for control of the flow down the river to the Vaal-Hartz diversion weir. 9600 feet. 09:50.
