November 28, 1937. Near Nongoma, Natal: An excellent close-up view of a Zulu kraal. The thatched huts are grouped around the outside of an enclosure which serves as a cattle corral. In general the opening into such a corral points the direction toward which the prevailing wind blows! and the huts are located on the opposite side. Only one animal is seen in the picture, but the tracks in the distance show the way to pastures. There is a fence around the field at the extreme right. 3600 feet. 08:20.
