The famous 'Rain Forest' lies between the railroad and the gorge and is so named because soon after the rainy season (April and May) the rising mist is so heavy that one needs oilskins or bathing suits when passing along this luxuriant, perpetually-rained-upon woodland. The Livingstone Memorial was placed at the near end of the gorge so that the statue of the famed explorer may look forever along the length of the chasm which he was first to discover. 3800 feet. 12:00.
