December 7, 1937. Mlanje Mountains, Nyasaland: Matched view showing the southern face of the mountains from a nearer position than the two previous groups. The camera is looking straight up the valley of Ruo and at its left is seen the Lujiri descent. The silvery falls of the Ruo (seen best in No. 23) are just visible here. Manje peak (9843 feet) is the higher of the two central peaks. The crater and Lichenya Plateau stand at the left. It is interesting to note how rapidly clouds formed while this series of pictures was taken; there were very few when we first gained the level of the mountains. 17200 feet. 06:52.
