December 29, 1937. Ruwenzori Mountains: A long series of photographs made from a carefully maintained level of 15,000' depicting the eastern face of the range, beginning at its low foothills just south of Lake Albert and extending southwestward beyond the high peaks nearly to the southern termination of the range. Since a constant altitude was maintained the first views sight across the foothills into the Semliki River valley, then the ridge rises to project across the tops of the pictures, and as the mountain increases in height, the summits disappear above the range of the camera. The result is an interesting study of the lower and middle level portions of the mountains (the peaks appear in other pictures). With few exceptions the views show enough overlap of prominent points so that a progressive impression can be formed. 15000 feet. c. 09:00.
