Within the Chinese Army, there have been various reports of growing friction between the Chinese Communist Armies (the 4th and 8th Route Armies) and the forces of Chiang Kai shek. The situation has been a delicate one for a long time. Chinese Communists, once opposed to Chiang Kai shek, joined a common front with him for the unity in the fight against Japanese aggression. Within recent weeks, however, the political air has again been filled with rumors concerning a break within the Chinese ranks. These are some of the rare pictures of the 4th Route Army in China. 34.
