Photographer's Note	Water clock, Canton The top container was filled every 24 hours, the dial in bottom one gradually rising and so gave the time, but it must have been a bit vague as the evaporation must have been enormous, the heat at times in Canton was excessive. "Probably the oldest clock in the world." See correspondence with Dr. J. K. Wright, September - December, 1944.
