Photographer's Note	The building of woody mud thatch and mat roofs was one of a series of shops along the street in the village. This young man displays merchandise for sale -- he was selling a variety of items such as sandals, mats, baskets, pottery, twine, bamboo fans, cooking woks, metal stands and tools. The various items can be seen in the foreground and background. The young fellow wears sandals of straw (rice straw), a skull cap of leather, blue denim trousers and jacket. In the background, just inside the door opening is a young lady, probably his sister, who is too shy to step forward and make her presence known. The openings in the building were usually shuttered for the night as you can see to the far right in the photo.
