temple
and
courtyard
in
Luliang
.
Note
its
cleanliness
. The
lush
,
ancient
cedar
trees
line
the
walk
and
stand
like
sentries
guarding
the
approach
. The
temple
itself
was
well
kept
. The
intricate
grill
work
and
carved
relief
panels
in its
door
of
wood
was
very
well
done
. To the
right
and
left
, the
circular
design
within
a
panel
of
fine
wood
screens
is
also
hand
carved
. The
doors
are
designed
to
fold
when
opened
. The
upper
portion
of
each
door
transmits
light
through
a
cross-hatch
pattern
. The
bottom
door
panels
are
carved
in
relief
.
Each
door
panel
contains
a
different
design
. The
roof
is
blue-grey
tile
and
neatly
kept
. The
grill
work
on the
roof
top
and
sides
was
painted
gold
. In
some
instances
these
appointments
were
green
.
Basic
construction
was of
stone
. The
patio
area
in
front
of the
entrance
was
raised
and
paved
with
stone
.
