Photographer's Note	Trail along lower Lenheri [Lenjeri] Gorge, 23 Oct. 1929; “When the Bolsheviks first sent in military units during World War I, they were met by determined farmers who would not let them up the Lenheri Gorge in the Ingur Valley. This is Prohoroff’s Rock in the gorge (also known as Red Officer’s Rock named after the captain of that unsuccessful Red Army unit. It took four years before the Reds were able to get in there and take over. That was in 1924. In 1929 this was a place still in transition. Here the trail is cut out of solid rock. Laraquaqua is the local name for the place.” Source: W.O Field quoted in “With a camera in my hands: William O.
