The gallery was built by the Society for the Encouragement of the Fine Arts (Towarzystwo Zachęty Sztuk Pięknych) at end of the 19th century. In the background: Peowiak Monument commemorating Polish Military Organization from 1914. The monument was destroyed in 1940 and reconstructed in 1999.
