Jun Bao, known as Zongyuan (courtesy name) and Yiqing (pseudonym), was born in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China. Bao is a renowned poet, calligrapher and painter in the late Qing dynasty. People called him, “a talent man of Lingnan”. (Lingnan, a geographic area referring to the south of China). Bao was an imperial scholar and was assigned to official positions during the era of Daoguang Emperor (1782-1850). He excelled at different scripts of calligraphy and specialized in poetry. Two books, “Rongtang shichao” and “Yixiage cichao” collect Bao's poetry.
