Monument. [Z.]
Erected by the living (thirteenth) Dalai Lama near Gah-ldan [Gadan] monastery on the spot where he is supposed to have dedicated some relics of Tson-k'apa [Tsongkhapa].
"Encouraged and protected by the King of Tibet, Tsongk'apa founded the Gelu denomination, and a few miles outside of Lh'asa he erected what is know as Gadan gomba, or the 'the happy lamasery'. His followers were called Gelupa or Gadanba, the first name being now universally used." (p. 84)
