'Among the nomads of Tibet, the sorcerer, or magician, occupies a position similar to that of the medicine man of the American Indians. The sorcerer wears his hair long-sometimes it measures to ten feet or greater and winds it round and round the top of his head like a snake. Among the Tibetans the snake is the symbol of immortality.'
